Assembly/Special Events   
Holiday Bazaar

Coordinates all activites for the Bazaar.  Prepare and distribute solicitation letters and forms to community, students, civic leaders, etc. for booth openings.  Schedule for entertainment, food and custodian need for the two day event. 

 

Hold meetings beginning September through
the bazaar date, arrange advertising/press release of bazaar, track expenditures for budget, etc.

Hospitality

The hospitality chairperson is the official host of our PTA unit and, with a committee, has the responsibility of establishing a friendly, comfortable atmosphere at PTA meetings and events. The hospitality committee helps to create a sense of belonging that invites members to become involved in PTA activities. Sept-June

Jog-A-Thon The Jog-IS- On chairperson cooridnates PTA efforts with Principal Hudson and Mr. Hastings to plans and host the annual event which our largest fundraiser. Usually starts the first week of October. In past years we have raised over $15,000. The children are given a pledge form which they take home to secure pledges from friends and family for their run time. Pledge money is collected before event. Helps fund Enrichment programs.  October

Legislative Advocacy

 Legislation Advocacy tracks the legislative agenda set by the state PTA. If possible, and as time permits, the Legislation/Advocacy chair should track local and federal legislation pertaining to child education that may be of interest to the PTA members.


As part of the "Advocacy" role, the chair should keep the PTA board up dated on up coming advocacy events that may impact children and/or public education. These events may be of interest to PTA members who may want to participate in them.

July-June Chair:
Membership Secures PTA memberships and dues from parents and faculty via letters, signage and other means of publicity. Prepares summary reports for state, as well as Executive Board.  July-June Chair: Lea Vera
NewsletterThe newsletter editor will gather information, write, edit and distribute a copy of the newsletter to each child in the school once a month or as needed. Time commitment is about 5 hours for each newsletter. Most of the work can be done at home. Sept.-June 
ParliamentarianInterpret standing rules and rule on questions of parliamentary procedure. Shall be appointed by the President. Review standing rules and suggest any amendments that are deemed necessary. Preside as chair over any committee appointed to prepare a new set of standing rules.Sept.-June Chair:

PTA communication and public relations should help PTA members and the general public understand PTA is:


· A volunteer organization of parents, teachers, and other concerned citizens; and


· An action-oriented organization working for the well-being of children and youth.

ReflectionsReflections is a national PTA arts and literature contest. Coordinator is in charge of organizing, promoting and explaining the program, arranging judging, picking up and sorting entries, finding judges, determining prizes, planning and attending awards celebration, and preparing winning entries for district competition. Time commitment is about 40 hours in the fall, and depending on winners progressing more time until January. Work is done both at home and at school. Oct-Nov.

Volunteer CoordinatorThe Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting parent volunteers for special school and PTA events and/or projects. The Coordinator works closely with our other PTA committees to assess their volunteer needs. The Coordinator also helps to broadcast volunteer needs to the parent community via phone, email and flyers. Excel experience helpful. Sept-June
